Questions to ask any clinic

Leaving is the part nobody explains.

Most people looking into a move have already made up their mind. What they need to know is what happens in between. Here is how a move works, step by step, and what to ask before you choose anybody.

  • Registered practitioners
  • The prescription belongs to you
  • We don't own or run a pharmacy
  • Every state and territory

Whose prescription is it

The prescription belongs to you.

If something is prescribed here, the prescription is yours. You choose which Australian pharmacy fills it, your own local one included, and we can help you find one if you would rather not go looking. You can change your mind about that later without asking us.

We do not own or operate a pharmacy and we do not sell the medicine, so there is no range for us to steer you toward and nothing downstream for us to recover. The consultation fee is the only money that reaches us, whatever is decided.

It also means you can leave whenever you like. The prescription belongs to you, and if you would like us to write down what we did so you can take it with you, we will sort that out.

Before you move

How a move works, in order.

People usually piece this together from other patients, after the event and often in the wrong order. It is set out here whether or not you come to us.

None of it is a comment on any other clinic. It is the sequence, and the two places where the order genuinely matters.

Before you tell anyone

  • 01 Check what you have left. If you are on a regular treatment, make sure you have enough to cover you before you start moving, not after. This is the step people most often leave until last.
  • 02 Ask your current clinic for a copy of your health information. Australian privacy law gives you the right to it, and you do not have to say why you want it. They cannot charge you for asking, though they may charge a reasonable fee for providing it. Ask for your prescribing history and any paperwork about your current treatment in the same request.
  • 03 Keep your own copy of everything they send. Once an account is closed, portals are not always still reachable.

Coming to us

  • 04 Bring whatever you have. Where a document is missing we work from what you can tell us on the call, and the conversation carries on. Sometimes we need a piece of paperwork afterwards, and we will tell you what and why.
  • 05 Your nurse takes your history again, properly. That is not a judgement on your last clinic. A new clinician has to make their own assessment rather than inherit somebody else's. It gets written down once, and it goes with you from there.

If your nurse or doctor decides this isn't the right service for you, we'll refund your consultation fee in full. The documents you gathered were yours the whole time. We only ever had a copy.

What happens on the call

Two clinicians working with you.

  1. 01Nurse

    You pick the time yourself

Choose a slot from the calendar when you book, so you are not waiting on anybody to call you back. Fill in the intake form, and an Ahpra registered nurse then takes your history properly on the call, for as long as that takes.

  2. 02Doctor

A time the two of you agree

You and the nurse settle on a time for the doctor while you are still on that first call. Your doctor reads what the nurse wrote before the two of you meet, so you are not repeating yourself a third time.

  3. 03Decision

You will know by the end of it

The decision is made during your consultation, so you are not left waiting on a letter. Whatever the doctor concludes, the reasoning gets written down and the record is yours to take anywhere.

Being straight with you

Four questions with checkable answers.

Caring and thorough are easy words to write, which makes them weak material for choosing a clinic. These four questions have answers you can check. Put them to us as readily as to anybody else.

Does the clinic own or operate the pharmacy that fills the prescription?
Ours does not.

Does the prescription come to me, so I can choose where it is filled?
Here it does.

Who decides about my treatment, and when do I find out?
Your doctor, during your consultation.

What happens to the money if the answer is no?
If your nurse or doctor decides this isn't the right service for you, we'll refund your consultation fee in full.

How your own consultation ends is something you and your doctor work out on the day. If someone would be better looked after elsewhere, we say so plainly. If another clinic's answers suit you better, that is a good outcome and you should go there.

What this costs, all of it.

  1. Consultation

    $69

    Taken when you book

If your nurse or doctor decides this isn't the right service for you, we'll refund your consultation fee in full.

  2. Anything prescribed

    Variable

    Set by the pharmacy

This sits outside the consultation fee. If anything is prescribed, you choose which Australian pharmacy fills it, your own local one included. That pharmacy quotes you directly, and you pay them. Neither the PBS nor Medicare pays towards it.

Begin your care when you're ready.

A short intake online, then your nurse call and doctor consult. $69 taken when you book, and refunded in full if this isn't the right service for you.

About 5 minutes online to start. Your $69 consultation fee is taken when you book, and refunded in full if this isn't the right service for you.

Ask us the same questions you would ask anybody else.
