Switching clinics
Switching clinics to High Ground.
Moving clinics can feel like starting over, but it doesn’t have to be hard. With High Ground there’s no discharge letter to chase and no paperwork before you book, just the 2 minute anonymous questionnaire and then your $0 initial consult. Your new doctor works from your history in your own words, plus any records you choose to share, and you keep your choice of pharmacy, and you see the same doctor at each follow up.

Making the move.
How do I switch clinics to High Ground?
You switch by booking as a new patient, starting with the 2 minute anonymous questionnaire and then your $0 initial consult. That consult is a phone call with a registered nurse and then a phone consult with a doctor. Each step is set out in how it works.
Do I need a discharge letter before I switch?
No. You don’t need a discharge letter or any other paperwork before you book with us.
Will you need records from my previous clinic?
Sometimes. If records from your previous clinic would help your care, your nurse will let you know. Usually the quickest way is for you to request a copy from that clinic and share it with us. If we need to, we can contact your previous clinic on your behalf, but only with your consent.
What do you need from me?
We need what we ask of every new patient, which is your history in your own words, in your intake form and on the calls. Please include everything you currently take and any other doctor who prescribes for you, so your doctor has the full picture. We’ll also ask you to confirm your identity.
What about care from my previous clinic?
Questions about treatment from your previous clinic go to that clinic, or to the pharmacy holding your prescription. Tell your nurse about everything you currently take during your first call. Your doctor here makes their own clinical decision, based on your history and your consults with us.
After you switch.
Can my new doctor see my history?
Your doctor sees what you tell us, plus any records you choose to share from your previous clinic. If you have a My Health Record, our clinicians may view it when it’s relevant to your care. Our privacy policy explains how this works.
Will my old clinic know I’ve switched?
High Ground doesn’t contact your previous clinic without your consent. Anything you have booked with them, such as a follow up, is yours to manage under their terms.
Can I keep using my pharmacy?
Yes. You choose the licensed Australian pharmacy for any prescription. High Ground can suggest one, or you can name your own. See how it works.
Will I see the same doctor here?
Yes. Your follow ups are with the same doctor, who reviews your history before each consult.
What does it cost to switch?
Switching costs what any new patient pays. The $0 initial consult covers your nurse call and your first doctor consult. Follow up consults are $28 each. There are no other fees. Our pricing page sets out what each fee covers.
Can I leave High Ground later?
You can stop using our service at any time. When you ask, we’ll give you a copy or summary of your health records, or send it to your GP or another provider you nominate, at no cost.
